Physical Education
Mr Jones leads our PE curriculum.
At West Berry Federation, we are committed to providing all children with a rich variety of sporting and active experiences that promote health, confidence and enjoyment. Our Year 3/4 residential offers pupils the opportunity to take part in outdoor and adventurous activities—such as climbing and orienteering—that extend beyond what we can provide on the school site. In Year 5, children undertake their Bikeability training to develop essential cycling skills and road safety awareness. Year 6 pupils enjoy a coastal experience, where they learn to surf and safely navigate the rips and waves under expert guidance. Across both schools, daily morning circuits take place to music, bringing staff and pupils together to raise heart rates, energise the start of the day and reinforce the importance of maintaining a healthy, active lifestyle.
As small schools with mixed‑age classes and limited numbers within each year group, we are not always able to form teams to compete regularly against larger schools. However, we are committed to ensuring all children experience challenge and healthy competition. To achieve this, we enrich our in‑school curriculum with a wide range of opportunities that allow pupils to develop teamwork, resilience and a sense of achievement, regardless of cohort size.
