Curriculum Overview

Being the best you can be; committed to making a difference.

At West Berry Federation, we have developed an exciting and innovative curriculum that draws on the specialist strengths of our teachers to inspire a love of learning across all subjects. Many of our staff now teach their specialist subject across all year groups in both schools, enabling pupils to benefit from expert knowledge and consistent, high‑quality teaching.

Our teaching teams have worked collaboratively to create long‑term planning that aligns with the National Curriculum while being carefully adapted to meet the needs of our children. This approach operates on a two‑year cycle, ensuring that pupils in mixed‑age classes cover the full breadth of knowledge and skills required by the end of Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. This model enables us to teach creatively, make meaningful links across subjects, and deliver a coherent, engaging learning experience.

We continually review and refine our planning, sharing ideas across the Federation and celebrating the rich learning taking place in our classrooms.
